Wind, rain, impeding snow (and the arrival of Cadbury mini eggs)… It can only mean one thing spring is on it’s way! Yes really.
Cue a flurry of launches to banish the blues the festive season has left behind. So here’s our top picks of the shades you’ll be lusting after to adorn your #SundayNails in the months to come.
First up, CHANEL of course, the maestro of nail formulation and nail envy. With iconic shades creating queues only apple launches can replicate this is a shade you need to get on the wait list for today. It is the most transitional of colours for the season, a heather hue of wonderfulness, get your name listed for Charivari. I haven’t tried it yet but I am excited to. I worry I will wish it’s a touch lighter as I do have a host of deep purple shades from CHANEL. I like the idea of twinning this with matte effect top coat. The collection also brings a new shade, Tapage, to the CHANEL portfolio a fun pop of fuchsia that is sure to bring a smile to all spring break nails.
The biggest trend has to be, of course, spring pastels and most importantly pastel blue. The icon coming from Dior’s which celebrates its Versailles-inspired looks, this time from the 18th century Petite Trianon of Marie-Antoinette, Dior brings us the Trianon Collection for Spring 2014.
Think pastels, big hair, bows and French aristocracy. We welcome Porcelaine nails a uber light Pastel blue. I love the idea of using this in a updated French manicure style with blue pastel tips, with an accent bow nail. Dior also adorns our nails with luminosity with Perle. A luxe top coat that transforms shades into a pearlescent frosted matte. Yes matte! Bringing a new dimension to a pearlised glow.
The pastel trend for baby blue is also present in Essie’s quartet for Spring, Resort Fling. Their Find me an oasis, mirrors Dior’s pastel blue hue, whilst their Under the twilight appears a touch richer than the limited edition CHANEL Charivari. The additional one I can’t wait to get my mitts on is Essie Cocktails and Coconuts, a twist on beige nude, this nude nail trend was every where during fashion week from Victoria Beckham, Oscar de la Renta and Alexander Wang.
Yet, for spring the biggest high street fashion trend is yellow, we will be wearing this twinned with Charivari heather or popped with Dior Bloom.
What colours are you looking forward to wearing this spring for your #SundayNails
