Goodness, where is time going? It’s been two weeks since my last post and yet somehow it only feels like yesterday. Most will argue it’s because I’m in the throws of a new love, and if I’m honest they could probably be right. But it has not quenched my love of nails one bit.

The excuse… I’m in the midst of meeting ‘the family’ and moving house. We have decided to take the plunge and move in together… So a flurry of furniture, move dates and logistics has ensued.

But I’m back! I never really went away… In the gap I’ve still managed to purchase a new array of shades and my camera roll is full of ideas and new ‘must-have’ shades. The new house will have a dedicated girl room ‘aka a place for SundayNails’ so I couldn’t be happier.

So in honour of trying to look chic and polished in front of his family, I turned to none other than a classic… Think CHANEL Rouge Noir. However, I wanted something with a tint of warmth so I opted for Essie Velvet Voyuer. Whilst not a new shade it is one I would argue should be in your classic staples (along with CHANEL Rouge Noir of course).

This gorgeous rich hue is slightly less vamp than Rouge Noir as the base is maroon purple rather than dark blood. It applies very easily as per all Essie polishes. I have been using polishes with one stroke brushes so going back to a small brush made it a little more technical to apply properly.

To give this manicure a personal and individual edge I wanted to add a little something. And as it was Easter weekend I thought a touch of metallic sparkle was just right. For this I turned to another Essie shade, on a silver platter – which I have to confess is a lot more gold than silver. In fact I would say it is not silver at all. It wasn’t the shade I originally wanted when I purchased it, but it’s fabulous all the same. Just don’t be fooled by the shade of the bottle, the blue glitter is also less in your face on the nail too.

So what do you think?
