Sometimes all you need is love. Yep, really. This weekend #SundayNails turned up the love factor in celebration of St.Valentine. That one day that is basically like marmite. You either love it or loathe it. I have spent so many years pretending to be a Valentine’s cynic, whilst really wishing I could indulge my inner girly romantic self. So now I am officially loved up and living with the boy, it was time to go full pelt into celebrating the day.

The boy outshone himself with a gorgeous rose bouquet to my office, to a super romantic trip down our dating memory lane culminating in a sumptuous dinner in the place we had our first valentines. Aka. Perfect.

So the nails had a lot to live up to. They needed to be chic, glossy, couture (naturally) and have a nod towards the colour of love. I had already decided not to go for hot red. I love red nails but somehow I wanted something with more depth. This was more than a date. This was valentines now we are cemented. Now I’m basically at FMR status (Future Mrs R) if not officially, he’s still got to ‘put a ring on it’ one day. So I wanted understated. Special but not overly valentines themed.

The boy was engrossed in the England v Italy rugby match so I used the 80 mins to get my nails up to scratch.

After a massive trawl through #SundayNails HQ I found a hidden gem. A dusky rose gold hue, with undertones of brown. From Yves Saint Laurent. If you can’t find love with
A touch of Paris couture then where can you find it?

The application, smooth, glossy, opaque. A really good one stroke brush applicator. A thin yet opaque formula, no goopy bits or plasticky residue. Two coats are certainly required, whilst the first provides coverage the second adds gloss and precision. A professional touch.

I finished the look with Seche Vite. I know I promised to search further afield for new top costs to rival this one but alas I just can’t bring myself to do it. I will. I will. Gah. Soon.

So with the look complete I was ready for my chic date night. Last year I added heart embellishments but this year I wanted a normal manicured look. Nothing too overt. I still like nail art but tonight was not the night for glitter and sparkle.

So now I’ve shared mine. Please share me yours. Tweet us, Instagram us or post me a link to yours in the comments below
