So I love red nails. But I loathe removing red nails, they bleed. Your hands seem to absorb the colour and it takes an age to remove.
For this reason I have been trying out ways to try and prevent the bleed and I think I’ve found one!
What you’ll need:
Cuticle oil, lip balm or Vaseline
Nail polish remover
A cotton ball (not a cotton pad)
How to do it:
Bare with me, it’s actually a simple method. First, apply a generous layer of cuticle oil, Vaseline or lip balm around each nail (don’t get it on the nail itself, just the skin around the nail). This layer will act as a barrier, preventing the colour from staining your skin when you start removing the polish.
When you are ready. soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover (I personally use one with acetone for best results), tear the ball into small pieces—just big enough to cover each nail, place one piece on each nail, and let it sit on your nails for two minutes. When the time is up, take what’s left of the cotton ball, press down at the base of your nail (use some pressure here), and slide it down your nail—cuticle to tip. This is genious moment. The polish will come off in one swipe—ok maybe two. But it honestly works. Use a clean portion of the cotton ball for each nail. You should be able to do one hand with just two cotton balls.
